Weekly Prep Diary: Consistency Over Perfection
One thing prep has taught me is that consistency will always be more powerful than perfection.
We all love the weeks when everything goes according to plan. Every workout feels great, every meal is on point, energy is high, and motivation is there. Those are the easy days.
But the real test comes when life throws something unexpected your way.
This week reminded me that no matter how carefully we plan, we cannot control everything.
Sometimes life forces us to slow down, adjust, and simply do the best we can with the circumstances we are given.
In the past, I probably would have been frustrated, thinking that one setback could ruin all the progress I had worked so hard for.
But experience has taught me otherwise.
Success is not about having perfect weeks. It is about continuing to move forward, even when things are not perfect.
Sometimes consistency looks like crushing a workout. Other times, it looks like listening to your body, recovering, and trusting the process. Both require discipline.
One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that your health should always come first. No goal, competition, or physique is more important than taking care of yourself. Without your health, you cannot continue chasing your dreams.
I think a lot of people believe successful athletes never face obstacles.
The truth is, we all do. We get tired. We get discouraged. Life happens. The difference is that we do not allow one difficult day to become a reason to quit.
We adapt, recover, and keep moving forward.
Prep is a long journey, and progress is not made in a single workout or a single meal.
It is built over weeks, months, and years of showing up, even when it is hard.
This week was a reminder that perfection is not the goal.
Progress is.
Taking care of yourself is not taking a step back.
It is making sure you can continue taking steps forward.
So wherever you are in your own journey, remember this.
Do not let one bad day convince you that you are falling behind.
Stay patient, stay committed, prioritize your health, and keep showing up.
Because consistency, not perfection, is what gets you to the finish line.
