Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember you and your preferences between visits.
2. Cookies and storage we use
BTS TV uses a small number of strictly-necessary, first-party cookies and browser storage items:
- Authentication cookies — used to keep editors signed in to the admin area. Only set after you sign in.
__bts_sid(session ID) — a random identifier stored in your browser'ssessionStorage. It groups page views from the same browser tab so we can count sessions. It contains no personal information and is wiped when you close the tab.bts_optout— set inlocalStorageonly if you choose to opt out of analytics via the "Don't track me" link in the footer.
3. Analytics
We run our own first-party analytics — no Google Analytics, no advertising trackers, no third-party scripts loaded for measurement. For each page view we record the URL path, the referring domain, your device type (mobile / desktop / tablet), and an anonymous visitor hash. The hash is computed on our server from your IP address and browser, combined with a secret salt that we rotate every day. Because the salt rotates and is never re-used, the hash cannot be linked back to your IP and cannot be used to track you across days.
Raw events are kept for 90 days, then permanently deleted. Aggregated daily totals (page views per article, per division, per referrer) are kept indefinitely. We never share this data with third parties.
4. Third-party content
Some pages may embed content from third parties (for example, YouTube videos or Instagram posts). Those providers may set their own cookies when their content loads, which are governed by their own policies.
5. Your choices
You can opt out of our analytics at any time by clicking "Don't track me"in the footer. We also automatically honour your browser's Do Not Track setting when it's enabled. You can clear all of the storage above through your browser settings; doing so will sign you out of the admin area if applicable.
6. Contact
For questions about our use of cookies, please get in touch through the contact page.
