The Men’s Physique division at the Sheru Classic delivered one of the most talked-about battles of the weekend as Manoj Patil defeated Anik Ghosh to claim the title and strengthen his push back toward the Olympia stage.
Leading into the contest, much of the conversation centered around Manoj and Anik. Both athletes have established themselves as two of the top Indian IFBB Pro Men’s Physique competitors, making this one of the most anticipated matchups of the show.
For many fans, Anik entered as the favorite.
However, when it came time to stand under the lights, he simply wasn’t at his best. Whether it was a mistimed peak, conditioning issue, or something else entirely, Anik failed to bring the package many expected. In a division where small details can separate first from second, leaving the door open against an athlete like Manoj is a dangerous mistake.
Manoj took full advantage.
From the opening comparisons, he presented a complete and balanced look that gave the judges very little to think about. His physique carried strong shape, solid conditioning, and overall polish, but it was his back shots that once again stood out.
From the rear, Manoj continues to display one of the strongest looks in Asian Men’s Physique. His back width, detail, and overall presentation remain among the best not only in India but competitive with many of the top athletes internationally. Every time the athletes turned around, he appeared to gain ground.
As the comparisons unfolded, the gap became increasingly clear.
While Anik was unable to match the level fans had hoped to see, Manoj delivered exactly what was required. He brought consistency across every pose, maintained his composure throughout the judging process, and ultimately made the decision straightforward for the judges.
The victory marks another important step in Manoj’s comeback toward bodybuilding’s biggest stage.
Now, he sits just one PRO victory away from securing a return to the Olympia. With momentum on his side, his attention will quickly shift to Thailand, where he is expected to chase the win that could send him back to Las Vegas.
If he can replicate the package he brought to the Sheru Classic, he will be a serious threat.
The Manoj versus Anik respectful rivalry generated plenty of attention heading into the event, but on this occasion there was little debate about the outcome. Manoj arrived with the stronger overall package, capitalized on an opportunity that presented itself, and walked away with the title.
Sometimes in bodybuilding, winning isn’t just about being great. It’s about being the athlete who shows up at their absolute best on the day it matters most.
