Confidence is one thing. Backing it up on stage is another.
Heading into the Empro Classic, Luca Reger made it clear that he believed he would leave with the title. While many athletes speak confidently before a show, Luca put himself under additional scrutiny by openly predicting a first-place finish before stepping on stage.
On show day, he delivered exactly that.
In one of the most competitive Classic Physique lineups of the weekend, Luca emerged victorious over a stacked field that included recent France Pro champion Ferran Minana Ibanez and rising talent Danis Afari Rose. It was a statement performance from the German athlete and arguably the best version of Luca Reger that bodybuilding fans have seen in quite some time.
What makes the victory even more intriguing is the timeline behind it.
Just three weeks ago, Luca began working with legendary coach Neil Hill, one of the most respected minds in bodybuilding. While three weeks is a relatively short period of time to make dramatic changes to a physique, the improvements on display were difficult to ignore. Luca appeared fuller, sharper, and more polished than he has in recent outings, bringing a level of completeness that immediately made him one of the standout competitors in the lineup.
From prejudging onward, it became clear that the battle for the title would likely come down to three men: Reger, Ferran Minana Ibanez, and Danis Afari Rose.
Each athlete brought something unique to the stage.
Ferran entered the contest riding high after securing victory at the France Pro and arrived in Spain looking to continue his winning momentum. His trademark aesthetics, shape, and polished presentation once again made him a major factor throughout the comparisons.
Meanwhile, Danis Afari Rose emerged as one of the biggest stories of the entire competition. Competing against established names within the division, he refused to be overshadowed and instead announced himself as a legitimate threat. His physique drew attention from the moment he stepped on stage, and by the end of the contest, many fans were discussing him as one of the division’s most exciting emerging talents.
For Danis, this wasn’t simply another placing on a scorecard.
This felt like a breakthrough moment.
The type of performance that forces competitors, fans, and promoters to take notice.
However, as impressive as both challengers were, Luca ultimately proved too strong across the board.
His size advantage was evident throughout the comparisons, allowing him to create a commanding stage presence while still maintaining the lines and proportions that define Classic Physique. More importantly, he paired that size with excellent conditioning, ensuring he wasn’t sacrificing detail in pursuit of additional muscle.
One area where Luca particularly separated himself from the field was from the rear.
His back shots showcased impressive density, detail, and conditioning, creating a level of visual impact that was difficult for his rivals to match. In a division where small details can often determine the outcome, Luca’s rear poses consistently strengthened his case for victory.
His presentation also deserves significant credit.
Throughout the contest, he looked composed, confident, and in complete control. Every pose appeared deliberate, every transition smooth, and every comparison seemed to reinforce the impression that he had arrived prepared to win.
When the final results were announced, there was little argument that Luca had earned the title.
For Ferran Minana Ibanez, second place is unlikely to be viewed as a major disappointment.
Having already secured victory at the France Pro earlier in the season, Ferran has effectively done enough to shut down his road to Olympia qualification. With valuable points already accumulated, he now sits in a strong position heading into the remainder of the season and can begin shifting his focus toward bringing his best package possible when the sport’s biggest stage arrives.
While the title may have escaped him in Spain, his long-term objectives remain firmly intact.
Perhaps the biggest winner outside of Luca himself was Danis Afari Rose.
Third place only tells part of the story.
The reality is that he emerged from the Empro Classic with significantly more recognition than he arrived with. Standing alongside established names and looking completely at home in those comparisons instantly elevated his profile within the division.
From this point forward, Danis will no longer be viewed as an unknown athlete working his way through the ranks. He has officially planted his flag in the Classic Physique division and established himself as a competitor capable of challenging some of the category’s most respected names.
Expect fans to pay much closer attention whenever his name appears on a future lineup.
Rounding out the top five was Mauro Capela in fourth place and Reiner Stimmler in fifth. Both athletes brought quality physiques to the stage and contributed to the depth of a lineup that many considered one of the strongest Classic Physique contests of the season outside of the major championship events.
In the end, however, the day belonged to Luca Reger.
After boldly predicting victory, changing coaches just weeks before the contest, and facing a field packed with legitimate threats, he delivered exactly what he promised. The combination of size, conditioning, impressive rear detail, and polished presentation proved too much for the competition and earned him a well-deserved Empro Classic title.
If this version of Luca Reger is a sign of what’s to come under the guidance of Neil Hill, the rest of the Classic Physique division has every reason to pay attention.
